Stomping Ground is a 2014 American creature feature comedy horror film directed by Dan Riesser and starring Jesse Moss, Sara Paxton, and Todd Stashwick. The film follows a young couple who go on a weekend trip to Annie's small North Carolina hometown, where they meet an old friend who takes them on an impromptu Bigfoot hunt. However, the trip soon takes a turn for the worse when they become the target of something much more sinister than they bargained for.
The film begins with Ben and Annie driving to Annie's hometown of Pineville, North Carolina for a weekend getaway. Ben is a bit apprehensive about the trip, as he has never been to Annie's hometown before and doesn't know anyone there. Annie, on the other hand, is excited to show Ben her roots and introduce him to her friends and family.
When they arrive in Pineville, they meet Paul, an old friend of Annie's. Paul is a charming and outgoing guy, and he quickly takes Ben under his wing. He invites them to go on an impromptu Bigfoot hunt in the woods outside of town. Ben is skeptical at first, but he eventually agrees to go along for the ride.
The Bigfoot hunt goes off to a rocky start. Ben is not a fan of the outdoors, and he quickly gets lost in the woods. Paul and Annie are more experienced, but they also start to have doubts about whether or not Bigfoot is real.
As the night goes on, things start to get even stranger. Ben and Annie hear strange noises in the woods, and they start to see strange shadows moving in the darkness. They begin to wonder if they are not alone in the woods.
The next morning, Ben and Annie wake up to find that Paul is gone. They search the woods for him, but they can't find him anywhere. They start to panic, wondering if Paul has been injured or worse.
As they continue to search for Paul, Ben and Annie come across a series of strange footprints in the dirt. The footprints are huge and clearly not human. Ben and Annie realize that they are not dealing with a normal animal. They are dealing with something much more dangerous.
Ben and Annie eventually find Paul, but he is not the same person they left the night before. He is pale and withdrawn, and he has strange scratches on his body. Paul tells Ben and Annie that he was attacked by Bigfoot, and he believes that Bigfoot is still out there in the woods.
Ben and Annie are scared, but they know that they have to find a way to get out of the woods. They follow the footprints, and they eventually come to a cave. Inside the cave, they find a large, hairy creature that is clearly Bigfoot.
Bigfoot is angry and aggressive, and it attacks Ben and Annie. They fight back, but they are no match for Bigfoot. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, Ben and Annie are saved by Paul. He has regained his senses, and he is able to fight off Bigfoot.
Ben, Annie, and Paul escape from the cave and make their way back to Pineville. They are shaken by their experience, but they are grateful to be alive. They have learned a valuable lesson: Bigfoot is real, and it is not something to be trifled with.
Stomping Ground is a well-made creature feature with a lot of suspense and humor. The film is well-acted, and the special effects are impressive. The film is sure to please fans of creature features and horror comedies.
